SWALEC were one of the original electricity boards, known at the time as South Wales Electricity Board until a name change in 1990 to SWALEC plc.

 

In 1998 SWALEC merged with Scottish Hydro-Electric to become Scottish and Southern Energy.

 

Today Scottish and Southern Energy own four energy supply companies, all trading as part of the parent company, Scottish Hydro-Electric, Southern Electric, SWALEC and Atlantic Electric and Gas.

 

Gas and electricity from SWALEC is available throughout the UK and currently some 5 million customers across the UK purchase their gas and/or electricity from one of the Scottish and Southern Energy brands.
