Scottish Hydro Electric is part of the Scottish and Southern Energy Group.

 

Scottish Hydro-Electric were one of the original electricity boards, known at the time as the North of Scotland Hydro Electric Board until a name change in 1991 to Scottish Hydro-Electric plc.

 

In 1998 Scottish Hydro-Electric merged with Southern Electric to become Scottish and Southern Energy.

 

Today Scottish and Southern Energy own four energy supply companies, all trading as part of the parent company, Scottish Hydro-Electric, Southern Electric, SWALEC and Atlantic Electric and Gas.
