British Gas reports loss of 445,000 energy accounts

Centrica plc, the parent of British Gas has today issued a trading statement which notes that they have lost a total of 445,000 energy accounts during this financial year.

This is despite successfully selling new energy contracts at the rate of 55,000 per week.

Only last week British Gas withdrew its capped rate energy deal for new customers and with reports that they are now encountering wholesale gas prices up by 51% over the 2004 we believe that it will only be a matter of time until we see an announcement regarding a price increases for their customers.

With average savings of over £150 available to customers transferring for the first time, Energylinx would recommend that everyone carries out a price check to ensure that they currently have the best deal available to them.

A number of suppliers including nPower, Powergen and ScottishPower have capped rate energy deals available to the domestic market and with prices set to increase over the second half of this year, now is the best time to shop around.

Energylinx offers its services for free and will take care of all of aspects of the transfer for you.
