Scottish and Southern price increases
Scottish and Southern Energy, owners of SWALEC, Southern Electric, Scottish Hydro-Electric and Atlantic Electric and Gas will tomorrow announce gas and electricity prices increases across all their brands within a matter of two weeks.
From the 1st of July English and Welsh customers of SWALEC, Southern Electric, Scottish Hydro-Electric will face an increase of 3.9% in their electricity bills, with Scottish customers suffering a 2.9% increase.
Unfortunately gas customers will see a much higher increase, with those customers who joined before February this year facing a 9% increase, whereas customers who joined the energy group since February will face a 4% increase.
Customers of Atlantic Electric and Gas, the energy supplier bought by Scottish and Southern Energy earlier this year will face even heftier increases from 5 July, where on average electricity prices are being increased by 16% and on average 22% for gas customers.
To be fair on Scottish and Southern Energy, Atlantic customers had not faced a price increase for some time and these increases reflect the current market price and are part of the integration of Atlantic into the main group.
