Your gas meter will record your gas consumption in either cubic meters or hundreds of cubic feet.

You will however pay for gas using a price per kWh.

To convert your gas meter readings to kWhs feel free to use our free gas meter reading calculator. It will convert cubic meters to kWhs or hundreds of cubic feet (100 ft3) to kWhs.

For Gas Meters that record cubic metres (your gas meter will have m3 beside the reading)

To calculate this figure take your current meter reading and deduct the previous reading.

The correction factor is used to take account of the temperature and atmospheric conditions at a site. It is generally of the order of 1.02264, so we have defaulted to this.

Gas delivered to your premises will have a CV of between 37.5 MJ/m3 and 43.0 MJ/m3. This is continually measured by Transco for each Local Distribution Zone and passed to your gas supplier daily We have defaulted to 40.0 but you can change this.
