Who are Amerada?

 

Amerada became part of Powergen along with TXU Energi and both were effectively incorporated and fully re-branded Powergen in 2003.

 

Prior to the take over Amerada prices had remained static for a couple of years so when Amerada prices with Powergen during September 2003, Amerada customers saw some quite massive increases.

 

Because Amerada had effectively capped their prices for two years this was a necessary increase to bring them in line with the rest of the gas and electricity markets.
